Luncheon with Topic Tables
Ancestor Treasure Hunt Winner’s Presentation
All registrants receive a printed syllabus with a map of the facility, room assignments, schedule, speaker bios, and lecture handouts. You may only be able to attend one session at a time, but you receive valuable speaker handouts for all sessions.
Begins at 7:30am and feature assorted breakfast pastries with coffee and tea.
This year we’ll have a plated luncheon with wait service, so you will chose an entrée when you register. Your luncheon ticket will be in the registration packet. Select either chicken Française (boneless chicken cutlet in a lemon caper sauce) OR vegetarian four cheese lasagna with marinara sauce. Both are served with fruit cup, rolls, vegetable, double chocolate fudge cake, and coffee or tea. If you have any food restrictions, please notify us. The hotel staff will make every effort to accommodate you.
Lunch Table Topics
Choose your table at lunch based on your genealogy topic of interest!
During the luncheon portion of the Seminar we will have a variety of fun and exciting features for attendees to enjoy. One such feature is you can select your lunch table ahead of time based on a genealogy topic of interest.
You will have the opportunity to have lunch with others who have similar interests, offering you an opportunity to share stories, research tips, tricks and pitfalls, and maybe just meet someone new. The “host” will facilitate the conversation topic and “break the ice” for attendees. This is meant to be a fun time with open conversation.
The current list of table topics is:
- Colonial New England, with Drew Bartley
- Italian, with Mary Tedesco
- Irish, with Mary Ellen Grogan
- Naturalization/Immigration, with Walter Hickey
- Mobile Technology, with Alice Kane
- DNA, with Shellee Morehead
- B.U. genealogy courses - NON-alumni, with Julie Michutka
- Writing & Sharing Your Research, with Michael Leclerc
- Becoming a Professional, with Barbara Mathews
- Evernote for Genealogists, with Margaret Fortier
- Incorporating Social History into Your Research, with Lori Lyn Price
There are only seven seats available at each table. We will assign seats based on date of registration and choice of topoic. Register as soon as you can to ensure that you get your choice of topic. We expect to add to this list in the coming weeks. If your topic choice is full, we will ask you to select another table topic.
We hope you enjoy this added element to the program and look forward to seeing you in July!
ANCESTOR TREASURE HUNT CONTEST
The Treasure: One lucky person will be selected from the first 50 people who register for the seminar by May 1 to receive research by a team of professional genealogists on a specific question/issue/"problem."
The Catch: The participant selected must agree to have their story presented and agree to be on the stage during the presentation during the luncheon portion of the seminar.
The Fine Print: All 50 people who register for the seminar by May 1 are eligible. They will be sent a brief questionnaire to complete describing their research question/issue/"problem." One lucky person will be selected from these submissions, but participation is not required. After review, we may ask for copies of some documents for our analysis. Please try to limit your submission to a U.S. question/issue/"problem."
The Bonus: We also provide the participant with a digital copy of the presentation in addition to a written "report/consultation" providing them with the results, documents and suggestions for further research.
Our goal is to offer a presentation that's both entertaining and educational. Good luck!
