When does the 2018 Seminar take place?

The 2018 Seminar will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 and Sunday, April 8, 2018.  You can register for either of the days separately or for both days.

Where is the 2018 Seminar taking place?

The 2018 Seminar will take place at the Courtyard By Marriott Marlborough which is located at 175 Felton Street, Marlborough, MA  01751 near the western corner of the intersection of Routes 20 and 495. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel and there is a direct entrance to the Conference Area from the south parking lot.

What does the registration fee cover?

The daily registration fee includes the lectures for that day, an electronic and printed syllabus, continental breakfast, lunch, raffle prizes, free parking, and access to the exhibitor area.

Do I need to register early?

In the words of many genealogists, “it depends.”  Seating is limited each day.  While you don’t have to specify which sessions you are going to attend, we expect the seminar to fill quickly.  All registrations forms must be received by Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

How do I register and pay for the 2018 Seminar?

You can register electronically at the MGC website www.massgencouncil.org and pay via PayPal (you do not have to have a PayPay account to submit payment electronically).

You can also register by downloading and completing the Individual Registration Form available at the MGC website and paying by check.  A separate form should be completed for each person you are registering.  Please make checks payable to:  Massachusetts Genealogical Council.  Mail checks and registration forms to:

Will I be able to register on the days of the 2018 Seminar?

We discourage walk-in registrations because of the limitations on seating.  There is no guarantee that there will be openings on either the day of the Seminar.  If you miss the registration deadline, contact the Seminar coordinator at program@massgencouncil.org.

What happens if the 2018 Seminar is over-subscribed?

If the 2018 Seminar is over-subscribed, your name will be added to the waiting list.  We will take registrants off the wait list in the order submitted when openings come available.

What if I have to cancel my reservation for the 2018 Seminar?

Cancellations received by Friday, March 28, 2018, will receive a refund less a 5% administration fee.   After March 28th registrants will receive an electronic copy of the syllabus, but no refund will be issued.  Refunds will be issued in the same manner as the Seminar Fees were paid—refund via PayPal if paid by PayPal, refund via check if paid by check.

What if I have special dietary needs?

Both the paper and electronic registration forms provide an opportunity to specify any special dietary needs you may have.  We will make every effort to accommodate these needs if we know about them by Friday, March 9, 2018.

What if I have other special needs?

Please let the Seminar coordinator know of any other special needs that you may have by sending an email to program@massgencouncil.org.  We will make reasonable accommodation to meet your needs if we know about them by Friday, March 9, 2018.

Can I stay overnight?

Hotel rooms will be available at the same hotel where the 2018 Seminar is being held–Courtyard by Marriott.  You should contact the hotel yourself to book overnight lodging.  Be sure to ask for the discounted MGC rate for $119/night plus tax.

Can I get to the 2018 Seminar by Public Transportation?

Yes.  Details for the various ways to reach the conference by public transportation can be found at  2018 Seminar Public Transportation page. You can make arrangements can be made to be picked up at the MBTA Westborough Commuter Rail Station on the Worcester line by contacting program@massgencouncil.org.

Can I exhibit at the 2018 Seminar?

Genealogical societies and individuals may exhibit at the 2018 Seminar.  Contact program@massgencouncil.org for details.   Approved exhibitors may set up their materials between 7:00-8:30 AM on Saturday April 7, 2018.  Specific locations will be given to exhibitors as they arrive.

What if something changes?

Changes will be posted on the MGC website:  www.massgencouncil.org.  All registrants will be contacted electronically with additional information closer to the seminar date.
